Friday night at the Kit Kat Club

Morra Hall was transformed last Friday into the Cabaret musical’s Kit Kat Club for a ‘Night In Berlin’.

New Zealand’s acting royalty Jennifer Ward Lealand and Michael Hurst sang and performed at this year’s celebratory fundraiser for the Waiheke Community Art Gallery’s artist in residence programme.

Their performance included excerpts from Cabaret as well as songs from Jennifer’s solo performance, Marlene.

'It was fantastic, fabulous and absolutely marvelous,' said gallery director Linda Chalmers.  'Michael and Jennifer are true professionals and it was a world-class performance.'

Having agreed to a 25 minute set, the pair performed for 50 minutes.

'Everyone appreciated that their programme was twice as long than expected,' said Linda. 'Jennifer thought it was a great event and very successful, saying that we had transformed Morra Hall into a cosy and elegant space and that the audience were engaged and enchanted.'"
