The Books They Would Never Leave Behind

The Central City Library presents Glengarry Desert Island Reads, a light-hearted celebration of reading on the evening of 31 May.  A panel of local artists, celebrities and writers will share with the audience which books they couldn't live without if theyy were stranded on a deserted island.

Guest speakers include:

  - Laureate Award winning actor/director Michael Hurst
  - award winning actress-director Jennifer Ward-Lealand
  - journalist, music critic and travel writer Graham Reid
  - internet ideas wizard Paul Reynolds
  - writer and freelance curator of exhibitions Richard Wolf
  - book illustrator and artist Pamela Wolfe
  - acclaimed painter and writer Jacqueline Fahey
  - poet and manuscripts librarian Iain Sharp

Audience participation is an integral part of the evening. 



 




Michael was the first reader with excerpts from James Joyce's Ulysses.


Jennife read last, from A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.
