Ash vs. Evil Dead premiered in the US (on Starz) and NZ (on The Zone) on 31 October 2015.
It stars Bruce Campbell as Ashley 'Ash' J. Williams, Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell,
Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, and Lucy Lawless as Ruby Knowby.
Ash has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead
until a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind and Ash becomes mankind's only hope.
1.06 'The Killer of Killers', written by Nate Crocker; premiered 5 December 2015
Thanks to his drug-induced vision, Ash knows what to do with the Necronomicon. Pablo and Kelly notice something
ominous. Ash promises to visit Lem, but Fisher shows up for an almighty showdown with her former boss.
Rolling Stone: "in sheer entertainment, this week's episode - 'The Killer of Killers' - may be the best of the bunch so far. ...
'Directed by Michael Hurst, whose resume is full of rollicking genre fare (Hercules, Xena, Spartacus, the Bruce Campbell-starring Jack of All Trades), it's the most fun you'll have in 24 minutes this weekend".
IGN: "Aided by buckets of blood, some nasty Deadites, Ash back in'douche' mode, and director Michael Hurst's knack for action, this one delivered the fun".
A.V. Club: "there's also expectedly strong glimmers of Raimi's own trademarks in Hurst's work - the way he speeds up the framing during the 'food fight', the not-so-subtle foreshadowing of the fan, meat slicer, and ice skates - that once again neutralize any fears that this show will ever stray far from the original vision".
The Movie Waffler: "Kiwi director Michael Hurst does a great job of emulating Raimi's kinetic style ... with Hurst returning for next week's episode, the signs are good!"

1.07 'Fire in the Hole', written by Sean Clements, Dominic Dierkes, Ivan Raimi; premiered 12 December 2015
Ash, Kelly and Pablo, now joined by Fisher, look for Lem in the woods but arrive at
the militia camp in the midst of chaos and must go to extreme measures to escape.
Collider: "Director Michael Hurst just nailed another episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead ... insanely entertaining".
Vulture: "Michael Hurst returns with more crackerjack directing ... Michael Hurst has staged three lo-fi monster fights that are just brilliant for this show ... Hopefully Hurst will return for future episodes".
IGN: "Still aided greatly by director Michael Hurst (who helmed last week's 'The Killer of Killers') and his skill for action pieces, 'Fire in the Hole' started out somewhat meandering, but then pulled things together nicely for a bloody great finish".
A.V. Club: "Returning director Michael Hurst manages to keep things fresh with lush overhead shots that allow us to breathe before we're tossed back into tight corridors and running away from fiery Deadites in the dark".
